Morris Bank Presents Grant to First Choice Primary Care

Morris Bank Presents Grant to First Choice Primary Care

First Choice Primary Care, based in Macon, GA, recently received a grant from the Morris Bank Community Foundation for $8,325. These funds will be used to update damaged flooring in several exam rooms in their Houston County location on Green Street. The current status of the flooring presents a trip hazard, particularly for some of the elderly patients, and the new upgrade will help to alleviate this concern for their patients.

As a non-profit, First Choice Primary Care provides high quality, affordable medical care, behavioral health, lab and pharmacy services to anyone in Middle Georgia, regardless of their ability to pay. A group of community volunteers came together to fund the first clinic in Macon. They opened the doors in 2007, and the organization began operations in Warner Robins in 2014 at the request of Houston Healthcare and the city of Warner Robins to help relieve the influx of patients in the ER. Now, with a case manager stationed at the Houston Medical Center Emergency Department, they are able to direct patients to primary care services, rather than using the hospital ER as a doctor’s office. In 2023 alone, they provided medical and pharmaceutical care to 11,000 patients and now have 6 offices across Middle Georgia.

“This generous gift from the Morris Bank Community Foundation will help us restore an area of our clinic so that the entire building is an attractive and welcoming place for patients to receive care, and for our great staff to work,” said Katherine McLeod, CEO of First Choice Primary Care. “It has been a pleasure meeting the team from Morris Bank, and we appreciate all they do for the community.”

Since the first grant was given in 2018, the Morris Bank Community Foundation has invested over $250,000 back into the communities they serve. Through this program, grants are awarded to strengthen and support organizations such as non-profits and other 501(c)(3) organizations, local schools, community and faith-based institutions, and government institutions providing public services.
