As a participant in the Georgia HEART Hospital Program, Morris Bank recently donated $250,000 to local hospitals in middle Georgia, including Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin and Dodge County Hospital. The program designates rural and critical access hospitals in Georgia to help increase funding and provide quality healthcare to thousands of patients state-wide.
“We have participated in this program for the past three years and continue to see the impact and need for healthcare funding in our communities,” says Spence Mullis, Chairman and CEO of Morris Bank. “Our state thrives when we all work together to provide economic development in order to grow our communities. Healthcare plays a vital part in that development, and this is our way of showing our appreciation and support for the impact these hospitals play in the areas we serve.”
“Contributions to the Georgia HEART Rural Tax Credit Program, such as Morris Bank’s generous gift, help Atrium Health Baldwin continue to provide high-quality health care close to home for residents of Baldwin County and the Lake Oconee region,” said Luis Fonseca, interim Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin CEO and president of Hospitals and Clinics for Atrium Health Navicent. The 140-bed acute care facility is part of the nonprofit health system, Advocate Health. “Thank you, Morris Bank for your support in improving health, elevating hope and advancing healing for all!”
As a neighboring county to Dublin-Laurens County, the Dodge County Hospital offers Eastman and surrounding areas a 94-bed progressive healthcare facility. “Georgia Heart is a very viable part of our ability to provide outstanding services at Dodge County Hospital,” said LaDon Toole, CEO of Dodge County Hospital. “We are extremely thankful for Morris Bank’s team and their leadership for helping us continue to provide quality care to rural Georgia, which includes Eastman and surrounding counties.”
The Georgia HEART Hospital Program works in conjunction with the Georgia Rural Hospital Tax Credit Bill (Senate Bill 258), enabling businesses and taxpayers to redirect their Georgia income tax liability to help support qualifying hospitals. Participation in the Georgia HEART Program is limited to Georgia hospitals that meet qualifying criteria established by the law. To learn more about the program, visit www.georgiaheart.org.
