Houston County Habitat for Humanity Receives Grant from Morris Bank Community Foundation

Houston County Habitat for Humanity recently received a grant from the Morris Bank Community Foundation for $13,931.51 to fund a framing project on one of their new home constructions. The local chapter is currently building their 65th home in the Houston County area.

“As a team, our board and community partners work hard to support our core mission of building affordable housing to help foster growth and success in Houston County,” says Bill Goggin, Executive Director of the Houston County Habitat for Humanity. “In doing so, we rely on the support of our local community members and organizations like the Morris Bank Community Foundation. Through their donation, we have been able to help fund the continued efforts of our current build in Houston County.”

Houston County Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to build homes, communities, and hope in Houston County. There is a constant need for affordable housing in the area, and Habitat works to build new construction, repair existing homes, provide small loans for incremental building and home improvements, help establish title and land ownership, and so much more. “We are truly grateful for the generosity of Morris Bank as well as the support of so many others in our community with their time, their resources, and their donations,” says Goggin.

The Morris Bank Community Foundation was formed in 2017 and exists to help support and sustain local organizations within the communities they serve. Simply put, Morris Bank wanted to give back to the communities that have allowed them to grow. Through this program, financial grants are awarded to strengthen and support organizations such as local schools, community and faith-based institutions, government institutions providing public services, non-for-profits and other 501(c)(3) organizations.
